Bacon Grease Kettle Popcorn

Easy
This one's about as simple as popcorn gets, and that's exactly why it works. Instead of oil or the microwave bag, you pop the kernels straight in saved bacon grease — it's what gives every piece that faint, smoky richness before anything else even touches it. While it's still hot, toss it with melted butter and popcorn salt, finer than the regular stuff so it clings to every kernel instead of sinking to the bottom of the bowl. Jean Stavedahl's version doesn't dress it up any further than that. It doesn't need to.
Ingredients
- • 1/3 cup Bacon grease
- • 1/2 cup Popcorn kernels
- • 1/2 cup Butter (melted)
- • Popcorn salt (optional)
Steps
- 1.Melt bacon grease in pot. Place a few kernels in grease.
- 2.Once kernels start popping, add the rest of the kernels.
- 3.Place popcorn into a container, top with butter and salt, and shake/stir.
